Executive Committee 2006/07

The Exec Says Goodbye
Exec 2006-07
President: Meredith Riedel
Meredith RiedelAs the president of the truly exceptional Exeter MCR, it is my privilege to attend lots of long, dull meetings so that our members don't have to, and then of course report back to them (minus the boring bits). I also oversee the various activities of the exec committee, which mostly involves applauding the efforts of the gloriously gifted and creative exec members as well as vaporising any obstacles they might encounter in the execution of their duties. On the less fun, but no less important side, the president chairs meetings of the MCR and writes an annual report on the Society's affiliations and fees, and is the liaison between the College and the graduates, to ensure that the interests of the graduate community are well-served. I aim to provide effective leadership, clear communication, and a smooth-running MCR. Because Exeter is just plain awesome.
Vice-President: Lindsay Weichel
Lindsay WeichelHello! My name is Lindsay Weichel, and I'm the Vice-President of the MCR. A big part of my job is liaison between the college and the MCR, so please feel free to chat with me or send me an e-mail if you have anything you'd like brought to the college's attention. I'm also in charge of taking minutes at MCR executive meetings and MCR general meetings and making the decisions made at the meetings accessible to you, and I'm also in charge of making sure everyone has access to the MCR Constitution, and answering any questions you may have about it. Finally, I take care of organizing elections, so if you'd like to join our fine MCR Executive or nominate someone for a position at election time, be sure to contact me!
Treasurer: George Anstey
Hey. I'm George and treasurer of the fine institution that is Exeter's MCR. I matriculated in 2003 for an undergrad in Economics and Management, and have returned to do an MPhil in Economics. As treasurer I manage our finances and attend various meetings with college about money, projects and spending etc. I'm the guy from whom you need to claim money if you have bought stuff for the MCR (see downloads section of website for appropriate form). I'm also the chap to ask if you need to find out if your expensive idea for the MCR budget is affordable.
Social Secretaries:
MT06-TT06: Michael Curtis, Maria Lamprakaki, and Brian Moss
MT07:Richard Chapman, Katy Barrett, and Brian Moss
Brian MossHey all! We're the crew in charge of organising the many and varied events of marvellous MCR mirth that occur throughout the year. We run exchange dinners with other colleges, bops in the MCR, pub crawls, BBQs, poetry nights, whiskey tastings and all other sorts of wonderful fun. At the beginning of each term, we circulate a term card with the season's upcoming events, and a weekly email informs you of all the action happening around Oxford. Hope to see you soon!
Welfare officer: Naomi Walker
Naomi WalkerHi, I'm Naomi, the MCR Welfare Officer for this year. I'm here to represent the general concerns of all members of the graduate community, particularly in the areas of welfare, personal security, accommodation and academic needs. So if you have any questions or worries on any of these areas don't hesitate to get in touch. The other key (and some would say most vital) element of my job is the weekly provision of tea and cakes for anyone who wants to come along to the MCR and enjoy a break from the routine whilst chatting and munching on lots of sweet stuff...
Exeter House President MT 07 - TT08: Patrick Wadden
Exeter House President MT 06 - TT 07: Julian de Hoog
Julian de HoogHello, my name is Julian and this year I'm fortunate to be the President of Exeter House. Exeter House is where most first-year graduates live (we have 53 rooms) and I basically take care of the many different issues that arise for people living here. These can range from keeping spare light bulbs to approaching college about major improvements such as new furniture or a better printer. We also arrange several events at Exeter House each year, including movie nights, parties and BBQ's, not to mention the ongoing table tennis ladder. We've put up more info about Exeter House on the website, but if you have any further questions please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Environmental Officer: Arianne Romney
Ari RomneyHeya - I'm Ari, the current MCR officer who sifts through rubbish to pull out cans and bottles. I also pester College to purchase long-lasting, energy-efficient light bulbs, to provide paper recycling bins in student rooms, and to start up plastics recycling. Check back soon for a recycling guide that will let you know what can be recycled where, as well as some tips for conserving energy and water. Please be in touch with any questions, concerns, or suggestions for making Exeter a little more green. Remember the three R's: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
Computing/IT Officer: Sara Adams
Sara AdamsHi there, I'm Sara, your humble IT officer. If you have problems with your computer or internet connection, usually the best way to get help is by writing an email to it-help@exeter.ox.ac.uk. But of course you can also ask me for help, although it might happen that I will only point to a person that I know is better at helping with that kind of stuff.
If you've got suggestions on how to improve the website, I'm definately the right person to contact. Improvements include photos you think are worth putting on the website. I'm also in charge of the Exeter MCR mailing list, so if you've got any problems with (not) receiving emails regularly from the MCR Exec, do contact me!
Apart from that, feel free to address me with any issues concerning the MCR - no matter whether it's got to do with IT or not.
